Did you know…?

Alzheimer’s San Diego recently announced that San Diego County officials have updated the number of people living with Alzheimer’s and related dementia’s from 65,000 people to more than 84,000 people! The organization points out that this increase is, in part, due to the fact that people are now being diagnosed earlier, which can actually lead to a better quality of life in the long run.

By 2030, it is expected that the number of local residents age 55 and older with some form of dementia is expected to increase to 115,000 people!

There is a huge amount of innovative research being done right here in San Diego to find a cure for this disease. It has also been announced that a $1.3 million grant was just secured from the NIH for a local discovery institute to move us even closer to finding a cure.
