The deeper story starts in the late 1990s and early 2000s, when Love 2 Live director Sheila Korn was struggling to hold down a full-time job, keep track of her teenagers and care for her widowed mother. This last task was a new one for Sheila.

Before her husband of 45 years died, Sheila’s mom had a life filled with friends, parties and hobbies like bowling and cooking in Florida. With her lifelong companion gone and medical issues mounting, she became depressed. An accidental fall causing a broken shoulder prompted Sheila to bring her mother to San Diego.
In the pre-Google era, finding services and care for seniors wasn’t easy. Sheila asked friends and neighbors for referrals, but found herself unsatisfied with the quality of care her mother received. She felt she owed more to the cheerful mother who taught her so many cooking skills and involved her in the adult parties she remembered so fondly.
More, the process of having to interview, monitor and often reject applicant after applicant became exhausting. When Sheila shared her exhaustion with coworkers and friends, she found they were experiencing the same issues. Once her mother passed away in 2003, she decided to start an in-home senior care services business. Since she had shared her challenges with friends and coworkers, a solid network of people was already in place to spread the word about her goal of offering compassionate, competent care.

With a laser focus on quality, Sheila built her reputation steadily. In 2011, when the San Diego Union Tribune began offering their “Best Of “contest in the elderly in-home care services category, Love 2 Live entered and won the top prize. We have now won a place in the top three for all seven years the contest has offered the category, securing the number one spot in both 2011, 2014 and again in 2017!
